Swan / NU living reaches finals in the Inside Housing Development Awards 2017

The Inside Housing Development Awards are an opportunity to celebrate the very best residential development across the UK from the past year. There are thirteen categories recognising schemes, teams and solutions, so that all areas of development can enter, including landlords, developers, architects and funders.

We were thrilled to find out today that we have been named as a finalist in the category of Best Approach to Modular Construction for our Beechwood development in Basildon, Essex.

Swan was one of the first landlords to build for private sale back in 2008, and its in -house developer NU living has already completed 800 homes, generating over £59m which has been gift-aided back to Swan to deliver its social purpose. However, what is different about the planning permission obtained for Beechwood’s final phases is that not only is Swan going to build the remaining 550 homes, but they will be build in our own factory in Basildon.

When complete, the homes at Beechwood will be indistinguishable from traditionally built homes, they will be greener, more sustainable (including cheaper to heat), come with the usual 12 year guarantees and 60 year quality assurance. They will also be stylish homes that, in the case of 270 homes for private sale, customisable by the buyer – giving them the opportunity to create their own home from 1,000,000 different options! Buyers will be able to use NU plan’s configurator software to design their home from the comfort of their own home, or in the stylish marketing suite on site.
