Swan / NU living and partners celebrate the ‘topping out’ of their new housing development in Ilford

Swan / NU living today celebrated the completion of the frame and commencement of fitting out of Swan’s exciting new development ‘The Paragon’ in Ilford.

The Mayor of Ilford Cllr Linda Huggett; the Leader of Redbridge Council, Cllr Jas Athwal, Cabinet Member for Housing, Cllr Farah Hussain  and Geoff Pearce Swan’s Executive Director of Regeneration and Development were among the guests, whom also included representatives from the Greater London Authority’s Homes and Communities Agency.  

This project, located near Ilford Station, will provide 141 flats in total, comprising 36 affordable rent flats (2-3 bed, some open plan and some with separate kitchens) and 105 shared ownership flats (1-2 beds, all open plan). 10% of units will be constructed to wheelchair adaptable standards.

Today’s event will mark the next phase of construction, including the start of the fitting out of the buildingFurther works, including the commercial unit, which will house the Marketing Suite, are planned for completion early next year.

The project is being constructed by NU living and is being funded in part by Housing Zone funding.
 

John Synnuck, Swan’s Chief Executive said:
“We are delighted to celebrate the progress of this development. Working in partnership with the London Borough of Redbridge and the Mayor of London, our regeneration of The Paragon, like our regeneration at Repton Court and Claire House, will provide much needed high-quality new homes for the Borough, together with improved communal areas including play equipment for children.  The Paragon will also introduce a new commercial unit to compliment the exciting wider regeneration of the Borough.” 

Cllr Linda Huggett, Mayor of Redbridge said:
“It is fantastic to see new quality homes being built in Ilford; this coupled with the Elizabeth line rail project will bring new vitality to what was a bustling town centre.”

This scheme forms an important part of our regeneration plans for Ilford Town Centre, supporting the Mayor’s Housing Zone aspirations and providing 100% affordable homes for our residents. I congratulate Swan Housing on this effort and look forward to future developments.”
