The Swan Foundation is celebrating after NU living, Swan Housing Association’s in-house contractor and developer, raised over £14,000 for the Foundation at a charity dinner held at Greenwoods Hotel and Spa in Essex.
The event, which was attended by almost one hundred Swan suppliers and contractors (many of whom donated items to be auctioned in aid of the charity), helped raise funds for the Foundation, which aims to enhance its programme to deliver projects and initiatives that help young people into employment and apprenticeships.
The Swan Foundation works with communities, who live in or close to homes built, managed and supported by Swan Housing Association throughout East London and Essex. They work to help remove obstacles that are holding people back, maximising employability and opening up further opportunities to benefit local people. At this year’s charity dinner, the focus was on generating income so that the Swan Foundation could support apprentices through the provision of key items such as toolkits, laptops and Oyster Cards.
Geoff Pearce, Executive Director of Regeneration and Development at NU living hosted the charity dinner, leading the main fundraising event of the evening – the charity auction. Auction prizes included tickets for sporting fixtures, a round of golf at the London Club, theatre tickets and dinner for two, cases of wine as well as afternoon tea for two at the Ritz.
Geoff commented:
“I would like to thank all of our suppliers and contractors who attended the charity event, their generosity and support is hugely appreciated. The Foundation does great work and we at NU living are keen to support their efforts. I’m thrilled that we were able to beat last year’s fundraising total and I’m looking forward to seeing how the Foundation supports the apprentices using the money raised, as well as exploring further ways NU living can support the Foundation in the future”.
